Nashi (Pears)

Referred to as Japanese pears, "Apple pears", Asian pears, Shingo pears, Korean pears, but most commonly known as Nashi (梨) in Japan.

It is a common practice to give gifts in Japan to family and friends. In summer, this practice of gifting is known as Ochuugen (中元).  Nashi definitely makes for a thoughtful gift. If you are visiting Japan during the summer, this is definitely has to be on your must eat Japanese food list.

Each Nashi variety with its own distinct features, taste and texture.
